Sher-e-Bangla Medical College
Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (pronunciation: Sh-air-eh-Bang-la Medical College) is a government-funded medical school and hospital located in Barisal, Bangladesh. It was established in 1968 and named after A. K. Fazlul Huq, a Bengali statesman who was often referred to as Sher-e-Bangla.
History
The college was established in 1968 with the aim of providing quality medical education to students in Bangladesh. The first batch of students was admitted in 1972. The college is affiliated with the University of Dhaka and is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).
Courses
Sher-e-Bangla Medical College offers a five-year MBBS course followed by a one-year internship in the attached hospital. The college also offers postgraduate courses in various disciplines of medicine.
Facilities
The college has a library, a hostel for students, and a hospital with 1200 beds. The hospital provides healthcare services to people in the Barisal division and is a major referral center in the region.
