NOSM University (pronounced "no-sum"), officially known as the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, is a medical school located in Northern Ontario, Canada.
Etymology
The acronym NOSM stands for Northern Ontario School of Medicine. The name reflects the school's mission to provide innovative education and research programs that will improve the health of the people living in Northern Ontario.
History
NOSM University was established in 2005 as a response to the need for more doctors in the rural and remote areas of Northern Ontario. It is a joint initiative of Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and Laurentian University in Sudbury.
Programs
NOSM offers a variety of programs including a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, postgraduate residency programs, a Master of Medical Studies, and a variety of other health professional and health workforce education programs.

The mission of NOSM University is to address the healthcare needs of the diverse populations of Northern Ontario by educating high-quality physicians and health professionals, and by conducting research relevant to the region.
