Burundi (pronunciation: /bʊˈrʊndi/), officially the Republic of Burundi, is a landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley where the African Great Lakes region and East Africa converge.
Etymology
The name "Burundi" derives from the pre-colonial Kingdom of Burundi (16th–19th century) which was named after 'Bwami', a divine being worshiped by the local people.
