Methemoglobin - (pronounced) (met-HEE-moh-GLOH-bin) A form of hemoglobin found in small amounts in the blood. Unlike normal hemoglobin, methemoglobin cannot transport oxygen. Injuries or certain medications, chemicals, or foods can cause an above-average amount of methemoglobin to be produced. This causes a condition called methemoglobinemia
