Short definitionmeningeal syndrome - (pronounced) (meh-NIN-jee-ul SIN-drome) condition characterized by headache, fever and a stiff neck caused when the meninges (three thin layers of tissue that cover and protect the brain and spinal cord) become irritated. Meningeal syndrome can be caused by blood, cancer cells, or substances from the breakdown of cancer cells entering the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
