Embolization - (pronounced) (EM-boh-lih-ZAY-shun) A procedure that uses particles such as tiny gelatin sponges or beads to block a blood vessel. Embolization can be used to stop bleeding or block blood flow to a tumor or abnormal area of tissue. It can be used to treat some types of liver cancer, kidney cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors. It can also be used to treat uterine fibroids, aneurysms, and other conditions. Types of embolization are arterial embolization, chemoembolization and radioembolization
